Matthew G. Finley was a graduate research assistant in the Holo Reality Lab while  pursuing his PhD in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Iowa. Finley completed his BS and MS degrees at the University of Iowa in 2018 and 2019, respectively, and his PhD in 2021.

As a student, Finley was an active member of many student organizations and held executive positions in UIowa’s IEEE student chapter as well as UIowa’s SpaceX Hyperloop Competition team. Finley's research interests included system optimization and applied signal and image processing. In his free time Finley is an avid photographer, hiker, and dog owner. You can often find him exploring one of Iowa’s state parks or watching his Great Pyrenees roll around in the grass at the Iowa City dog park.
